SLAWA UKRAJINI

DEEN

project: reconstruction work at the Memorial for Peace in Munich at the architecture week year: 2022, typ: Installattion architecture: Opposite Office team: Benedikt Hartl, Zina Arborranu place: Memorial for Peace in  vicinity of the Russian Consulate General, Munich

The monument Peace Angel in Munich represents an important point of reference in the city, is located in the visual axis from Prinzregentenstraße and Luitpoldbrücke  in the direct vicinity of the Russian Consulate General and is an important landmark in Munich. Today, the Memorial for Peace seems somewhat strange in light of the horrific images reaching us from Ukraine. With the installation Slawa Ukrajini we want to dedicate the peace memorial to Ukrainians. For one-week architecture week of the BDA we remove the Victory Column and turn the monument of the Angel of Peace into a construction site.

Official permits for this action are available and can be viewed here:

During the reconstruction works we will exhibit Ukrainian architects*. Instead of dealing with urban space in Munich, the exhibition deals with urban space in Ukraine. 20 young Ukrainian architects sent us a postcard with a sketch of their favorite building, which you can see here:
